Description
Daniel C. Beard Elementary School was $15 million project spanning about two years, consisting of a new 17,865 square foot annex and renovations to the existing 39,705 square foot school. The new Pre-K annex houses 10 new classrooms, multi-purpose rooms, offices, warming kitchen and support spaces including all new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and low voltage systems. The façade was constructed with cold-formed metal framing, a rain screen system, windows and storefront. Improvements to the site include concrete and pre-cast concrete unit pave walkways, a new parking lot, learning garden, playground, landscaping, drainage, detention and lighting.
Renovations to the existing school included interior improvements such as new ceilings, floors, re-painting and upgrading both HVAC and electrical systems. Exterior renovations consisted of complete roof tear-off and replacement, tuckpointing existing masonry, repainting, and new windows and storefront.
