Description

Apostolic Faith Church (AFC) has been serving the Chicago Bronzeville neighborhood for more than 100 years. Sollitt as Construction Manager worked as a part of the owner’s team to establish the budget before the building of the new 75,000 square foot worship center and ministry complex commenced. The Sanctuary seats 3,000 people and is designed to promote spiritual growth and individual development. Finishes were hand-picked by the owner’s committee, and customized theatrical lighting provides professional lighting that works in synchronization with state-of-the-art audio and video systems.

African American minority and female businesses were specifically sought out by AFC to contribute to the work put into building the facility. A targeted outreach to the MBE/WBE subcontractors was enacted, and an intake session to find qualified people of the congregation and the community was done. Goals were exceeded and participation achieved. During the construction process the youth of the community was provided with internships and work experience. The AFC can further expand their outreach programs and provide the community a secure and valuable resource for spiritual support, continuing education and recreation for all ages with the construction of the new facility.
