Description

The Hanover Park Fire Station No. 1 replaces an outdated fire station headquarters’ that was located one block south. The facility features five garage bays that allow equipment parking, storage and staging. The second floor provides living quarters for twelve on-site personnel, men’s and women’s locker rooms and two slide poles. The daily administrative operations are located on the first floor including offices and conference room. The lower level includes a large training room and exercise room. The structural system is load bearing masonry walls, and steel supported precast plank floors. It has a hot water heating system with ducted air circulation. Through extensive value engineering, Sollitt discovered a more efficient heating system that saved $20,000; this system uses more boilers, of a smaller size that provides more control and efficiency.
